Reviews for Weddings/Events

We always look forward to see you on stage at the Virginia symphony concerts, it is a bonus to hear you play up close at this wedding today....Cary

It was such a pleasure having you both here.  The residents and guests raved about the music and how it was a great addition to the theme of the event.  I will certainly keep you in mind for future events.  Tony Williams, Harbor's Edge

"Lui and her Silk Road Notes team provided beautiful music for our ceremony- many guests commented on how lovely their music was!  The quartet knew all of the hymns and marches we selected (even when we added a song at the last minute), were very responsive over email, and all around a pleasure to work with.  I would highly recommend them to any Hampton Roads bride looking for a classical, elegant sound!"  Bride, Kali McFarland, 2018

Silk Road Notes played with me at one of the largest weddings at First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk in recent memory. It was a lovely experience from start to finish. They were professional in their communications days and weeks before the event, friendly on site the day of the wedding, flexible with the timings of the various musical events throughout the service, and most of all sensitive. I say sensitive because when I had finished playing the bride's prescribed recessional on the organ, which was short even with the extended version tacked on to it, the string quartet intuitively played additional music for the recessional while the congregation continued pouring out of the sanctuary and into the yard. It was a nice rounding out as they had begun the service by playing the entire prelude.

Thank you so much for playing the cello for my daughter's wedding at the Cavalier Hotel...I cannot tell you how perfect and beautiful your music was!  Everyone loved it....I plan on recommending you to everyone!

Reviews for Cultural Presentations

"Studying ancient civilizations can often be abstract, uninteresting, and mundane. By providing the opportunity for our third graders to "travel" and experience the ancient cultures of China, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Mali in real time, "Notes From The Silk Road" gives our urban students the opportunity that they would not otherwise be afforded...."

Ms. Vaughan 2018

“Ms. Berz executed a perfect lesson touching on so many aspects of everyday life, personal experiences, and culture.  She was a model teacher with beautiful transitioning, visuals, choral and individual participation, and ‘wiggle’ time.  I have not seen a more professional presentation than this. . . The children sat for over an hour. . . completely engaged.”

Robin H. Putnam, Parent

Norfolk Collegiate School

"You were sensational - AS ALWAYS!!! Some of my students want to move to China after witnessing your incredible presentation.  You made my heart glad.  We loved the interaction, the history, the invaluable artifacts, and the way you allowed the children to ask questions about some things that they had prior knowledge of.  You were great!  Keep up the good work.  I really appreciate your service."

Ms. Ruffin-Wood, Tanners Creek Elementary.

Thank you so much for the wonderful presentation!
